River Park Farm is a beautiful, fully restored 3-storey brick guesthome built in 1910. It features leaded glass windows, large veranda, and an 8-bed attic dormitory.
The attic has a shower, toilet and sink, lovely window seats, floral chintz bedspreads, and looks down a prairie lane to Hartney's grain elevators and a prairie train. From one window seat you can view the Victorian garden, a medieval 20 diameter brick circle with 8 brick path spokes and a variety of wild flowers, herbs and perennials. From the other window seat you can look across fields of grain and see the large red barn in the yard. Artwork by local artists is displayed throughout the house. A treed stairway leads to the Souris River where canoes are available. There is a riverwalk with a place to sit by the river for contemplation and bird-watching.
We can accommodate 14 overnight guests, utilizing the beautifully appointed second-floor bedrooms and the attic dorm. Ideal for small weddings or larger tent weddings, women's retreats, business groups, Girl Guide outings, school sports teams and hunters.
The golf course is 1 mile down the road (9-hole, grass greens on the riverbank). There are many interesting sites nearby, the Lauder Sandhills, Wildlife Management Area, an archeological dig site during the summer (with many native artifacts), and the Souris swinging bridge.
I serve gourmet meals to groups of six or more, or to smaller groups if they are staying overnight.
