About Manitoba

It is impossible to list all the activities and events available for you to enjoy while visiting us. This is just a small sample - your B&B hosts will be pleased to help you get information to suit your particular interests.

Summer:

Swimming - in the hundreds of lakes scattered throughout the province. Clean water, fine sand . . . some of the finest beaches in the world are located within a one-hour drive of Winnipeg.

Boating and fishing - lakes, rivers and streams are within your reach anywhere you go.

Golfing - 121 courses in the province (most of them public). Winnipeg alone has 24 courses, 9 which are public.

Dozens of Festivals - are held throughout Manitoba in July and August. This is a wonderful opportunity to introduce yourself to rural Manitoba. The largest of these are the Icelandic Festival in Gimli, the Ukrainian Festival in Dauphin, the Folk Festival in Winnipeg, and Folklorama in Winnipeg.

Hiking on marked trails - in and near Winnipeg and throughout the province in both provincial and national parks. Spirit Sands is a desert in southern Manitoba less than two hours from Winnipeg (rent a car for the day and capture this unique experience).

Cycling - Many B&B's have bicycles you can borrow.

Football - (Winnipeg Blue Bombers) and Baseball (Winnipeg Goldeyes).

Horse-racing - at Assiniboia Downs.

Winter:

Cross-country skiing - on groomed trails both in Winnipeg and in rural areas.

Downhill skiing.

Ice skating - both indoor and outdoor

Winter festivals - the Festival du Voyageur (Winnipeg), Trappers' Festival (The Pas), and many local winter carnivals.

Hockey - (Manitoba Moose) and Basketball (Winnipeg Cyclone as well as championship University-level competition).

Symphony, Ballet, Opera, Theatre.

Various Year-Round:

Winnipeg: Dinner theatre, museums, historical sites, casinos, IMAX, internationally-flavoured restaurants, golf dome, swimming in the Pan Am pool.

Rural Manitoba: Museums, old churches, historical sites, community events - your B&B hosts love to share their town with you. Enjoy the local pub, bingo, curling, and baseball (often you can join in - just ask!)
